Paytm Share Price Target ₹2,200: What Experts Are Saying

One 97 Communications, the parent company of Paytm, has attracted renewed attention from investors after brokerage Bernstein retained a ₹2,200 price target for the stock.

According to a September 11, 2026 report, Bernstein maintained its Outperform view and ₹2,200 target, citing merchant lending growth, improving operating leverage and the potential monetisation of UPI transactions through Merchant Discount Rate (MDR).

Important: ₹2,200 is a brokerage price target, not a guaranteed year-end price. The time horizon and assumptions behind a target should be considered before using it as an investment decision.

Bernstein's September report said Paytm's earnings could benefit from merchant lending growth, operating leverage and potential UPI monetisation. It also projected FY29 EPS of about ₹78.

Why Is the ₹2,200 Paytm Target Important?

The ₹2,200 target is significant because it is above Paytm's original IPO issue price of ₹2,150. Earlier in August 2026, Bernstein had raised its target from ₹1,500 to ₹2,200.

Another brokerage, Jefferies, also raised its Paytm target to ₹2,100 from ₹1,600, incorporating expectations around UPI MDR.

This means different brokerages have recently published targets around the ₹2,100–₹2,200 range, although analyst estimates are not uniform. A market-data compilation currently shows a wider analyst target range of approximately ₹1,050 to ₹2,200, with an average around ₹1,632.

5 Major Factors Behind the Paytm Target

1. UPI Merchant Discount Rate

A major development for Paytm is the introduction of MDR on certain UPI merchant transactions above ₹2,000. NPCI announced that MDR of up to 0.4% on eligible UPI Person-to-Merchant transactions will apply from October 15, 2026.

This could create an additional revenue opportunity for payment platforms, although the actual financial benefit will depend on transaction volumes, applicable rates and how revenue is distributed across participants.

2. Merchant Lending Growth

Bernstein highlighted merchant lending as one of Paytm's potential growth drivers. Growth in financial-services distribution could provide additional revenue beyond the company's traditional payments business.

3. Improving Operating Leverage

Paytm's Q1 FY27 results showed revenue from operations of approximately ₹2,448 crore, while consolidated net profit was ₹220 crore. EBITDA was reported at ₹203 crore.

Improving profitability and operating leverage are therefore important factors investors may monitor.

4. Strong Recent Business Momentum

Recent reports have highlighted improving revenue growth and profitability at One97 Communications. However, the stock price can remain volatile, particularly because the company's valuation depends heavily on expectations of future earnings growth.

5. Potential Expansion of Paytm's Business

Paytm is also exploring financial-services and AI-related opportunities. Business Standard reported that the company is developing AI capabilities for enterprise customers, including potential applications in financial services.

Paytm Share Price Target 2026: What Investors Should Watch

The ₹2,200 target should not be interpreted as a guaranteed year-end 2026 target. Bernstein's published target reflects its assessment of Paytm's future earnings and business prospects rather than a certainty that the stock will reach ₹2,200 by December 2026.
