Info Edge — Investment Analysis
1. Business overview
Info Edge is more than just Naukri. Its operating portfolio includes:
- Naukri — recruitment/classifieds and the main profit engine
- 99acres — online real estate
- Jeevansathi — matrimony
- Shiksha — education
It also has a substantial investment portfolio, which makes valuation more complicated than a conventional internet company. The company's own annual report describes the business as two portfolios: operating businesses and strategic investments.
2. Fundamental picture
FY26 consolidated revenue: ₹3,284.7 crore
FY26 consolidated total income: ₹4,343.3 crore.
The balance sheet is particularly important. Info Edge had approximately ₹45,885 crore of cash and investments and only about ₹2,585 crore of debt, giving roughly ₹43,300 crore net cash at FY26/June-26 levels.
That provides significant downside protection compared with highly leveraged internet businesses.
3. Naukri — the core engine
The biggest investment thesis is still recruitment.
In Q1 FY27, recruitment billings grew around 17.5% YoY, helped by enterprise renewals, premium hiring and newer AI-related products such as AI REX and Talent Pulse.
The key question is whether India's hiring cycle accelerates.
Bull case:
- IT hiring recovers
- enterprise hiring improves
- premium recruitment continues growing
- AI products generate incremental monetisation
- Naukri retains its database/network advantage
Bear case:
- IT/mid-market hiring remains weak
- premiumisation cannot compensate for slower volumes
- AI reduces some recruitment intermediation
- current valuation already discounts much of the recovery
4. 99acres
This is becoming an increasingly interesting second growth engine.
FY25 real-estate revenue increased about 17%, while operating losses fell substantially. 99acres also became cash profitable during FY25.
Management's Q1 FY27 commentary indicated expectations for >20% billing growth, with improving sales execution and relatively benign competition.
This matters because if 99acres reaches sustained profitability, Info Edge's consolidated earnings quality improves.
5. Jeevansathi
Jeevansathi has gone from being a significant drag to approaching profitability.
FY25 billings grew 31%, revenue grew 29%, and operating losses declined dramatically.
In Q1 FY27, management reported operating-profit break-even.
That's a positive change in the overall portfolio.
6. Profit quality
One important point: don't value Info Edge solely on P/E.
The company has a large investment portfolio, and investment-related gains can materially affect reported consolidated profit.
For example, Q1 FY27 consolidated net profit increased 43% YoY to ₹490 crore.
Therefore, I would focus more on:
Operating revenue + billings + EBITDA/cash generation + net cash/investments + value of strategic investments
rather than simply applying a P/E multiple to reported consolidated EPS.
Technical analysis
At approximately ₹1,313, the technical structure remains constructive but the stock is no longer cheap from a momentum perspective.
Recent technical data shows:
| Indicator | Level | View |
|---|---|---|
| Price | ~₹1,313 | — |
| 20-DMA | ~₹1,277 | Positive |
| 50-DMA | ~₹1,135 | Positive |
| 100-DMA | ~₹897 | Positive |
| RSI(14) | ~56.9 | Healthy |
| 52-week high | ₹1,433.60 | Major resistance |
| 52-week low | ₹908.30 | Major support |
Moneycontrol's technical data shows the 5/20, 20/50 and 50/200-day moving-average structures as positive, with RSI around 57.
Another technical source has the stock around ₹1,354 on 28 August, with RSI 63.4 and the 20/50/100/200-day averages also supporting the longer-term uptrend.
Key levels
Immediate support: ₹1,275–1,300
Major support: ₹1,200–1,230
Strong support: ₹1,130–1,160
Resistance: ₹1,370–1,400
Major resistance: ₹1,430–1,435
A decisive breakout above ₹1,435 with strong volume would be technically significant.
My valuation / target-price framework
Rather than copying a broker target, I'd use a range.
Bear case
₹1,100–₹1,200
This scenario assumes:
- recruitment recovery disappoints
- valuation multiple contracts
- 99acres improvement slows
- investment valuations decline
Base case
₹1,450–₹1,550
This assumes:
- Naukri maintains mid-to-high-teens growth
- 99acres continues moving toward meaningful profitability
- Jeevansathi becomes sustainably profitable
- investment portfolio retains substantial value
- valuation remains at a premium to traditional companies
Bull case
₹1,650–₹1,800
This requires:
- strong hiring-cycle recovery
- Naukri growth accelerates
- AI products create meaningful incremental revenue
- 99acres becomes a strong profit contributor
- investment portfolio appreciates
- market continues awarding Info Edge a premium internet/platform valuation
Current analyst estimates are broadly supportive: one consensus source puts the average target around ₹1,469, with a range of ₹1,166–₹1,635; recent individual targets include ₹1,500 from ICICI Securities and ₹1,480 from Nomura.
🎯 My target
12-month base target: ₹1,500
From ₹1,313, that's approximately 14% upside.
I would use:
₹1,200 = risk/support zone
₹1,500 = base target
₹1,650 = bullish target
₹1,800 = aggressive bull case
